Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails

An ok trail. Nice parking. No restrooms. Tree-lined. Crushed stone. Watch out for the BEARS! Saw one on the trail. Bring bug spray!

D&H Rail Trail

I've ridden the trail from Simpson to Buck's Falls which is outside of Starrucca. The trail is well groomed until you hit the other side of Ararat. Then you run into ballast stone and coal silt. No ballast stone or coal silt from Simpson to Ararat.

Well-done

There are some climbs at points, but that makes for some fun downhills. Trail is smooth and easy to follow.

Stony Valley Rail-Trail

Nice improvement

Beautiful surroundings, completely shaded. Stones are a little large but nicely compacted. Nice improvement over just maybe two years ago. Saw some wildlife and not many other riders on a Saturday afternoon

Schuylkill River Trail

New bridge

June, 2025 by jayneweinhold

Pedaled from Kernsville Dam to just south of Auburn, 6 miles one way. Really nice section of trail. The new bridge over the river between Stony Creek trailhead and Auburn is open. Didn’t have time to pedal all the way to Auburn, had to turn back.

Scenic trail through quite areas!

Although not totally connected, we found this trail to be delightful. It takes you through some safe, side streets to a fairly flat, forested path. The woodsy part is dirt/gravel and can be a bit challenging, as you need to be aware of the twigs, uneven surfaces, and wildlife. But hey...isn't this why we ride?

I have ridden from Lansboro to Steven's Point several times. I'm from the area and can't find the trail from Steven's Point to Starucca. Where can I pick up the trail to Starucca.

Joseph M. McDade Recreational Trail

has potential to one of the best trails in mid Atlantic

Parts of this trail are incredible. You feel like an early pioneer venturing out beyond the frontier. You are stunned by the natural beauty of the Delaware river. You imagine the grinding of receding glaciers that carved this beauty. You hear the echos of an earlier time. The forest is dense, lush and alive. Groundhogs greet you. Birdsong awaits you. Locals are friendly However parts are hellish if you’re attempting to bike it. Even hiking the bike is dicey and dangerous. Our ortlieb saddle bags fell into the Delaware river at one point. We managed to fish them out by some kind of aquatic miracle It’s also full of Lyme disease carrying ticks so watch out The trail need a make over Any billionaires out there who have a spare penny to repair it, please help!

Rough Ride not like previous outings

March, 2025 by haldemanjoseph

We rode from the Cementon trailhead out 10 miles to Slatington and back on March 19, 2025 and were disappointed in the conditions of the trail. Encountered large stones throughout the ride unlike the crushed stone base we experienced in previous rides in the spring of 24 and fall of 22. It was if someone maintaining the trail deposited large ballast rocks all along the trail surface really impacting the surface normally smooth ride. Also had to navigate many miles of bumpy tire tracks.

Biker and runner reminder

February, 2025 by znfpkprpdt

I walk here often with my dog. If you’re on a bike coming up behind me, or if you are running and approaching from behind me, I can’t hear you!! Naturally my dog will shy or jump up due to a startle. Please use a bell or call out. Thanks!

Beautiful winter ride

Clear with some snow and ice remaining but easy to ride on a gravel bike. Highly recommend! Amazing displays and history for the area. Only saw one other rider, but several walkers. I will return to do this one again.
